WHAT IS "RETURN2POLICE"?

The "Return2Police" program is a property protection and inventory system that provides a safe, confidential method to identify personal property. It also provides a system that allows registered items to be returned to the owner.

WHO OPERATES THE PROGRAM?

The program is the property of the Upstate New York PBA (USNY PBA) made available only to active or retired police officers or citizens who are associated as honorary members of the Upstate New York PBA or of a local police organization that is a member of the USNY PBA.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY LOCAL POLICE ORGANIZATION IS A MEMBER?

Simply go to the website (www.return2police.com) and the affiliated police organizations are listed.

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THE USNY PBA?

The USNY PBA is an umbrella organization founded in 2003 for the sole purpose to train, educate and promote issues that support law enforcement officers. There are three regional offices - one each in the cities of Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse.

HOW DO I PROTECT MY PROPERTY?

Simply register your property by using the property stickers provided.

HOW DO I GET MY PROPERTY RETURNED TO ME?

First, you must register your property so that we know whom to contact for return. Then, if the property can be mailed back to its owner, we provide that service. If the property is found or recovered by the police, they will be able to use the registration number to notify us and then we will notify the owner that the property has been recovered.

HOW ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?

The owner and the finder are kept separate. All information goes through our office and the two parties remain anonymous to each other.

HOW DOES THE REWARD WORK?

If an item is reported lost or stolen and if it is reported found to us, we pay a $25.00 reward to the finder or we offer the finder a free one-year service to the R2P program. We also issue the finder an appreciation certificate noting his honest and notable service to the community.
